We’re Jake and Bobbie Ostler—a husband-and-wife team, San Diego natives, and the people behind Crafted Home.
We bring design and construction together for kitchens, bathrooms, whole-home renovations, and ADUs throughout the San Diego area.
From our first conversation through the final details, you work directly with us. We help you plan the space, choose materials, and carry those decisions through construction.
OUR STORY
Rooted in San Diego.
Built on Experience.
Our roots in building began here in Southern California. Jake’s elaborate childhood forts and early carpentry projects led to a middle school woodshop class that helped deepen his love for building. At 16, he took on his first paying job: rebuilding his grandpa’s deck in La Mesa, complete with an elevated platform and cantilevered walkway. Thirty years later, it’s still standing.
As Jake’s work grew, Bobbie gradually began helping with renovations. Her love of design and eye for detail brought a new perspective to the projects we took on. Working together, we found how naturally our strengths complemented each other: Jake’s hands-on construction experience and Bobbie’s attention to layout, materials, and how a home feels.

An Early Project.
Still Part of Everyday Life.
One of those early projects was Jake’s parents’ bathroom. More than 20 years later, the photo shows him back in the same shower he built—still in use today.

Jake started with finish carpentry—installing doors, windows, and crown molding, where precision and detail mattered. Through work with other contractors, he gained broader experience in construction and bathroom remodeling, laying the foundation for becoming a licensed California contractor in San Diego in 2006.
With more clients asking for kitchen and bathroom renovations, those spaces became a focus of our work. In 2020, we built our first ADU for a client, expanding our work to include separate living spaces that can make room for family or provide rental income.
Today, we bring that experience to Crafted Home. We plan projects together, coordinate trades, and stay directly involved as the work takes shape.

The layout, materials, budget, and construction details all affect one another. Considering them together helps us create a space that looks right, works well, and can be built thoughtfully.

I approach a project by thinking through how it should be built, including the details that will eventually be hidden behind the finished work.
My construction experience helps me anticipate what a project may involve and investigate key details before work begins. That preparation helps us plan around existing conditions, coordinate trades, and reduce surprises during construction.
I stay directly involved throughout the project—checking details and resolving questions along the way. That hands-on approach helps me make sure what gets built reflects what we planned with you.
BOBBIE OSTLER · DESIGN
Design With a Practical Side.
I help you plan the layout and choose materials and finishes without feeling overwhelmed. You won’t be handed a shopping list and left to figure it out on your own.
We start by exploring how you use the space and what you’re drawn to, helping define your style as we go. From there, I guide you through layout options, material samples, and selections one step at a time.
Your priorities and budget guide that process. My role is to bring the choices together into a space that works well, looks beautiful, and still feels like you.

Over the years, our work has spanned 150+ projects, including kitchens, bathrooms, extensive whole-home renovations, structural changes, and ground-up ADU construction.
That experience informs how we plan, solve problems, and manage the work. We understand that substantial renovations involve many decisions, and we help you work through them in a practical order.
