A Clear Path
From Idea to
Completion.
A remodel involves a lot of decisions. Our process helps you work through them in the right order, keeps the project organized, and keeps you informed about what comes next.
Deliberate planning. Clear communication. Careful execution.
Let’s Talk About Your Project.
We start with a phone conversation about what you’d like to change, the general scope, and what you’re hoping to accomplish. For most remodeling projects, we’ll also ask for a few photos so we can better understand the existing space.
Once we understand the project, we’ll talk about the likely investment or starting price range. If we’re reasonably aligned, we’ll schedule an in-person meeting to see the space, discuss your priorities in more detail, and determine the appropriate next step.
For ADUs and larger projects, we can usually establish a realistic ballpark early, but an accurate construction price may require plans and additional design work.
- Understand your goals and general scope
- Discuss budget and likely investment
- Review the existing space or property
- Determine whether we’re a reasonable fit
Two Perspectives. One Project.
Once we decide to work together and the appropriate agreement and deposit are in place, detailed design and planning begin.
Bobbie considers how the space should look, feel, and function. Jake considers how it should be built. Those perspectives come together throughout the planning process so the finished design makes sense both visually and practically.
Design decisions affect construction. Construction realities affect design. That’s why we consider both together from the start.
- Establish layout and design direction
- Guide selections in a deliberate sequence
- Coordinate drawings when needed
- Refine scope and pricing as the project develops
Work Through the Details Before Construction.
As the design takes shape, we turn it into a plan that can actually be built. Depending on the project, that may include final selections, detailed scope, drawings, engineering, permitting, material orders, and scheduling.
For remodeling projects, we typically order and receive project materials before demolition begins. ADUs follow a longer construction schedule, so we order materials in stages and identify long-lead items early.
The approach changes with the project. The objective doesn’t: think ahead so the work is ready to move when construction begins.
- Finalize selections and project details
- Coordinate drawings, engineering, and permits
- Order materials at the appropriate stage
- Prepare the project for construction
Plans Come to Life.
Once construction begins, your project stays a priority. Jake remains directly involved—coordinating the work, checking details, solving problems, and making sure construction follows the plan.
Because remodeling means working with an existing home, sometimes construction uncovers conditions that couldn’t reasonably have been seen beforehand. If that happens, we’ll explain what we found, what it affects, and the available options before moving forward.
We pay attention to the things you’ll see when the project is finished—and the things you’ll never see again once the walls are closed.
- Coordinate trades and project activity
- Keep you informed about what comes next
- Address field conditions as they arise
- Check the visible and hidden details
Finished Means More Than Almost Done.
As construction winds down, we go through the project carefully and address the remaining details. That includes completing punch-list items, making final adjustments, cleaning the work area, completing required final inspections when applicable, and walking through the finished project with you.
The details at the end deserve the same attention as the decisions at the beginning.
- Complete final details and punch-list items
- Complete final inspections when applicable
- Walk through the finished project together
- Turn the completed space back over to you
You Won’t Be Handed Off.
From the early conversations and design decisions through construction and completion, you’ll work directly with us. You’ll know who to call and who is responsible for following through.
Tell Us What You’re Thinking.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. In fact, helping you work through those decisions is part of what we do.
Tell us about your home, what you’re considering, and where you are in the process. We’ll start with a conversation and see whether Crafted Home is the right fit.
